The ADU is a non-governmental organization established in 1976, currently with 122 members. These are distributors, business publishing media, and corporate communications press companies, representing all 21 Arab countries.

The principal objectives of the ADU are presented as follows:

  1. To create a space for trade between its members for contributing to the free movement of the press in the Arab world;

  2. Inform members of the union about distribution techniques and modern management;

  3. Conduct a continual discussion on the development of the press in the Arab world.
