Innovative publishing companies are now working together with their multimedia newsrooms to provide audiences with a range of cross-media products and services. Not only do their readers benefit from richer content, but advertisers also see the potential of reaching new audiences through new channels. This wokshop has been designed to help Managers and Journalists gain the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully develop and implement multimedia convergent strategies in their organisations. Examples taken from international case studies from the industry will highlight how newspapers are embracing media convergence, and how they have developed successful cross-media models for print, online and mobile. The focus of this workshop is discussing and analysing strategical questions, as well as carrying out practical exercises for demonstration purposes only. Jonathan Halls Jonathan works with Ifra Newsplex on its corporate projects with newspapers around Europe. These have included the Daily Telegraph in London. With 17 years working as a journalist and media trainer and media exec, he has taught, written about and spoken at conferences around the world on the subjects of media, leadership and innovation. Until 2006, he was boss of the BBC’s prestigious Production Training Department. The multi-million pound operation has trained some of the world's leading broadcasters and journalists. During his time there, his department led some of the biggest change training projects in the industry. These included the move from audio to digital production, introduction of lightweight TV production, HD and interactive TV. He also introdced the first ever new media editorial curriculum. Jonathan has worked as a journalist, media executive and communications specialist. He has a bachelors and masters degree in education. Time and Fees
